The cats of TCE are far removed from the cats from the books, and as such their Warrior Code has evolved from its original form. Most of the canonical codes still exists in spirit, but the majority have changed in small to significant ways, and some codes have been abandoned entirely. There are also some new codes that have risen over time.

This page holds a complete list of Treeclan’s version of the Warrior Code, and displays amendments to canonical codes directly beneath the original forms. The codes are arranged according to the area of clan life they regulate, and are currently grouped into four categories. We have also included a list of the canonical codes that TCE does not use at the bottom of the page.

Clan cats should not trespass or hunt on another clan’s territory. If a patrol catches you, they have permission to chase you off their land.
Note: This code was abandoned following the fall of Stoneclan, as there are no other clans within the Valley.



Kits and elders should be fed first, and, unless they have special permission, apprentices cannot eat until all elders have been fed.
Note: This code now applies only to kits and queens. It’s application to elders has been displaced by Treeclan’s elder-care customs.



The clans must hold a peaceful Gathering once ever full moon. Fighting is forbidden during these Gatherings.
Note: This code was abandoned following the fall of Stoneclan.



An honourable cat does not kill in battle unless the opposing cats are outside the Warrior Code, or they are forced to kill in self-defence.
Note: This code was abandoned following the fall of Stoneclan, though most cats still avoid killing other cats unless absolutely necessary.



A warrior rejects the soft life of a kittypet
