July 15th - Since it is unclear when Arinasi will be able to return to TCE, and she has been unable to login for some time now, Treeclan’s Deputy position has been reopened. For the sake of continuity Brightwind should continue to be referred to as Deputy in-character for the time being, and will be officially replaced with an in-character Ashstar announcement once the position has been re-claimed.

TCE entered a hiatus in response to the world situation. As such, there was no news during this period.
February 29th - We're finishing up February by releasing Division, the fifth part of TCE's history. As always, it can be found under the Elder's Stories menu item, which has been tweaked slightly in preperation for the release of a new sub-section (more on that later).
February 28th - NPC Mentors can now be purchased from our site shop, meaning that members are no longer restricted to OC mentors. This trait is applicable to apprentices (or soon-to-be apprentices) only, and exists in two forms: one for ground/branch hunters, and one for the rarer tree hunter.
February 6th - From now until April 1st, free Limited Traits can be claimed by all members who have not previously participated in a trait-based promotion. See this thread for more information.

August 19th - Treeclan now has a Senior Medicine Cat! This position will be held by Cloverheart - A cat who canonically took the position a couple of moons prior to the Rogue Invasion. Her NPC predecesors are Blackwillow (second-to-last SMC; deceased) and Ripplestorm (previous SMC; retired).

April 20th - The third part of TCE's history is now up! You can find it here, or by using the Elder's Stories menu.
February 6th - A minor tweak has been made to character history requirements. Going forwards, the histories of all characters older than ten moons must make some reference to the Rogue Invasion and other relevant/major plot developments (exceptions made if a character has been part of the clan for less than ten moons). This will not impact any previously accepted profiles, but is hoped to help strengthen the link between future characters and our backstory/plot.

October 29th - A little while back it came to my attention that members may find it difficult to adapt backstory deaths to our setting, so TCE now has its own Causes of Death list to provide a little guidance. In addition, today sees the release of The Rogue Invasion; a history page that addresses the four moons immediately preceding roleplay. There has also been a small tweak to our plot, so you may want to refresh yourselves with that, too!

November 23rd - A new suggestions thread (concerning our future curency's name) and poll (concerning discord) have been posted. In addition, we now have a Temporary Bans thread, and a temp ban on toms has been put into place.
November 22nd - A polls tab has now been added to this table. All new official polls will continue to be announced in the news, but their links will also be shown in the Polls tab until such time as they close. It is hoped that this will help to keep them more visible as other updates are added.

November 9th - Treeclan’s previous SMC, Willowseed, has now been added to our Death & Retirement records. In addition, some edits have been made to our Apprentice Rules to clarify the interaction between Mentor and Apprentice specialities, and lay out some criteria for Tree Hunter apprenticeships.
November 5th - A few new questions/answers have been added to our FAQ, and some additional comments have been made on our Character Profile Template in an effort to help members avoid some common mistakes. In addition, our Limited Traits have been edited to include ‘odd’ breeds, and an explanation of who gets Starclan visions (and when) has been added to the Dual Medicine Cats page.

There have also been some minor tweaks to our character rules, and a few new buttons added to this table, as it's recently become clear that a few things needed to be clarified or (in the case of the buttons) made more visible.
November 22nd - A polls tab has now been added to this table. All new official polls will continue to be announced in the news, but their links will also be shown in the Polls tab until such time as they close. It is hoped that this will help to keep them more visible as other updates are added.
November 18th - The third of our seasonal themes, Newleaf, has now been released!
November 9th - Treeclan’s previous SMC, Willowseed, has now been added to our Death & Retirement records. In addition, some edits have been made to our Apprentice Rules to clarify the interaction between Mentor and Apprentice specialities, and lay out some criteria for Tree Hunter apprenticeships.
November 5th - A few new questions/answers have been added to our FAQ, and some additional comments have been made on our Character Profile Template in an effort to help members avoid some common mistakes. In addition, our Limited Traits have been edited to include ‘odd’ breeds, and an explanation of who gets Starclan visions (and when) has been added to the Dual Medicine Cats page.

August 29th - The Elders' Records menu has been renamed to Elders' Stories, as this better fits the Warriors theme. In addition, this menu now has its own main page (home to our timeline), and the second part of TCE's history has been released!

July 22nd - A quick explanation for the lack of updates these past couple of weeks: unfortunately my laptop's screen blacked out at the beginning of the month, and it's taking longer to fix than expected. As a result I have been unable to access my notes/WIP TCE files, so work on the site has had to be put on hold until the problem is resolved.

TCE is set many, many generations after the books, rendering the canonical characters distant relics of a largely forgotten past. Life in the Lake Territories soured long before our roleplay’s timeline, and a breakdown of the original clans forced our character’s ancestors to leave their homes in search of better prospects. Eventually these cats found their way to a vast stretch of mountains, and on traversing a long, treacherous pass they at last stepped into a sheltered valley; their new home.
The descendants of these founding cats came to identify themselves first as The Valley Clans, and then simply as Treeclan. Although there was once a second clan (Stoneclan) within the Valley, Treeclan is now the only known clan, their neighbours having perished several generations before current events. As such Treeclan now rules all accessible space within the Valley, and they have come to enjoy a comfortable, almost spoilt life: one rich in food and scarce in threat. They seem to have an almost idyllic existence—but with no external forces to keep the clan united, its cats have taken internal dramas to new heights. A long line of wise and strong Leaders have managed to minimise the rifts and prevent the clan from imploding, but now a new cat has stepped into their paws. Now, in the very dawn of his reign, the cracks are beginning to show... |

Leafbare’s last clutches have fully fallen from the Valley, and the new growth of Newleaf is everywhere in sight. The forest and plains alike are awash with the vibrant colours of fresh flowers and young grass, and prey populations are already booming, making hunting a breeze. The early mildness of the season has now matured into a comfortable, stable warmth, and the nights lack their previous chill, retaining a degree of heat right into their depths. In all it’s proving a comfortable, bountiful season, and even the usual rains remain light and infrequent, saving the clan from the damp.
