Gᴇɴᴇʀᴀʟ Rᴜʟᴇs & Cᴏɴᴅᴜᴄᴛ

1. Be civil to each other at all times, and avoid airing disputes in the shoutbox or on the boards. If you are having problems with another member, please PM a staff member for assistance.

2. Be aware that a new member's first profile will not be accepted until that member has PM'ed Greymuzzles our current 'secret code' (please entitle this message 'Verification' so it can easily be identified). This code is hidden amongst our rules, and is our best way of verifying that members have read said rules.

3. As of February 2018, all new members have one month to complete their first profile. Members who fail to complete a profile before the end of their first month will be deleted from the site (extensions may be given on a case-by-case basis if you contact a member of staff).

4. All new members are welcome to join our Discord, but will initially have limited access. Full Discord access will be granted once a user has posted their first profile and verified their account.

Sᴡᴇᴀʀɪɴɢ, Vɪᴏʟᴇɴᴄᴇ, ᴀɴᴅ Mᴀᴛᴜʀᴇ Cᴏɴᴛᴇɴᴛ

1. Swearing is not to be directed at any member on site under any circumstances. It is permitted in-character, but should be swapped for warrior-style cursing wherever possible.

2. Mature/graphic content is not permitted on this forum, as it breaches Proboards Terms and Conditions. Similarly, mating and kiting should not be roleplayed on the boards.

3. Any scene that involves violence (I.E: cat fights, etc) should be roughly PG13.

Rᴏʟᴇᴘʟᴀʏ

1. We prefer our members to be ‘semi-literate’, but will accept most writers as long as they are able to produce coherent, well-thought-out posts, spellcheck before submitting, and do not use chatspeak in-character. You must also be capable of consistently writing a minimum of 150 words per roleplay post, as our roleplay boards will not allow smaller posts to be submitted.

2. Roleplay posts should be written in the past tense, using the first person. Speech should be written in bold to help other users pick it from the rest of your post, thoughts should be in italics, and quoted speech from previous posts should be written in italics and enclosed with single quotations ('example'). You have the option to colour-code your character's speech if desired.

3. All roleplay threads are to follow a strict posting order to ensure that all members involved are able to keep up with events. Should a member of the roleplay fall inactive, you must wait a minimum of one week before skipping their turn (longer if they’ve posted in the absences board and are still within the dates of that absence). If all participants are active, permission should be gained before skipping any member.

4. TCE uses 'fluid time', meaning that your cats can be in more than one thread at once. However, older threads will usually fall before newer ones in timelines, and will be declared 'in the past' whenever the main site time formally advances. Threads that are officially set in the past must not reference any future threads or events.

Cᴏɴᴛʀᴏʟ ᴏꜰ Cʜᴀʀᴀᴄᴛᴇʀs / Cʜᴀʀᴀᴄᴛᴇʀ Dᴇᴀᴛʜs

1. Control of a character remains exclusive to the member who created that character, unless they choose to put it for up adoption. Once a character has been adopted by another player, control of what happens to that character is exclusive to the adopter. It is, however, good manners to inform the original owner before roleplaying extreme events such as the character’s death.

2. There is to be no powerplay (PP) or god-moding (GM) under any circumstances. Similarly, you cannot kill another member’s cat without their express permission, which itself must be clearly posted in the thread in which this character death occurs.

3. If a cat dies in roleplay, please PM both the owner of the clan Leader and Greymuzzles to let them know.

Gᴇɴᴇʀᴀʟ Rᴜʟᴇs

1. All characters must have a staff-accepted profile before they are roleplayed in any of the official roleplay boards. New profiles should be submitted to the Pending Profiles board. You are welcome to post work-in-progress profiles to the Pending Profiles board, but all such profiles must be clearly marked as WIPs. No profile will be reviewed whilst the WIP label is in their title.

2. All profiles must be posted on the provided template, but you are free to add extra fields and code these templates as you wish. You cannot, however, remove fields unless otherwise stated in the template.

3. Remember that a new member's first profile will not be accepted until that member has PM'ed Greymuzzles our current registration code (please entitle this message 'Verification' so it can easily be located). This code is hidden in one of our rules threads, and is our best way of verifying that members have read our rules.

4. No repeat names. Please check our Extant Names thread for a comprehensive list of the character names currently in use on TCE. Names must also make sense in the context of warrior cats (i.e. cats must know what the prefix/suffix is!)

5. Note that apprentices are considered limited characters unless obtained during roleplay. Please see the Apprentices/Kit-to-warrior Progression tab for rules concerning apprentice-creation/progression.

6. You must own an unused 'Unlimited Cat' slot or the appropriate charm to create characters that have limited traits. Profiles containing limited traits will be rejected unless you hold an unused charm/slot for the trait.

7. All members have one free Unlimited Cat slot to use as they wish. Additional Unlimited Cat slots may be awarded by staff at their discretion.

8. There is currently no limit on the number of cats any given member can play.

Hɪɢʜ Pᴏsɪᴛɪᴏɴs

1. Open high positions must be applied for here, unless filled during roleplay. Profiles for any high ranking cats will not be accepted until their high position application has been accepted. Once a position has been filled, replacements will be selected almost exclusively through roleplay, using the same methods seen in the books.

2. There is currently a hard limit of one high position per member.

3. Members owning high positions should post a minimum of once a fortnight (preferably with the high-ranking character). Members failing to post for over a month, without prior notice, may lose their position.

Relatives, Mentors, Friends, and Enemies

To avoid confusion around character relationships (e.g. character A has a sibling named Birchfur, character B is called Birchfur, and neither cat is related), the following rules apply to characters’ relatives/mentors (etc):

1. If a relative or mentor (etc) is not an NPC or OC, they must not be given a full clan name. Instead they must be referred to by their prefix only (e.g. Birch-, Hawk-, Golden-) within both character profiles and roleplay posts.

2. If a relative or mentor is to be put up for adoption with a full clan name, they must be registered as an NPC using the NPC templates.

3. If you want to refer to a relative or mentor by their full clan name, they must either:
- Be reserved as one of your future characters
- Be registered as an NPC using the NPC templates

For the sake of flexibility, the following exceptions to this rule apply:
- Deceased kits
- Deceased apprentices (if they died more than six moons ago)
- Dark Forest explorers (maximum of one per member. Must be registered as an NPC, and will be shown on the Dark Forest Register)

Note that all profiles created before Feb 2021 have been grandfathered in, meaning that members are not required to retrospectively adjust the names of older cats’ relatives.

Updating Profiles

It is hoped that your characters will grow throughout your time here, and as such you are welcome to edit your profiles at any time after they have been accepted. However, if you are planning to make significant edits such as:
 • - Re-writes
 • - Additions/changes to families
 • - Additions/changes to histories
Then please alert Greymuzzles via PM prior to beginning the work, as these changes will require staff review and (in the case of family changes) adjustments to site records.

Once you have advised Greymuzzles of your editing plans, the following process will come into play:

1. Your profile will be moved into the Updating – To Be Reviewed sub-board so that anyone referencing the profile knows that it is currently being edited.

2. Once you have finished editing the profile, alert Greymuzzles within the original PM.

3. Greymuzzles will review the profile to ensure that no inconsistencies or problems have cropped up (e.g. you have accidentally stated that relative A died when your character was young, then have them die again when your character is older).

4. Greymuzzles will make any necessary adjustments to the site records, and then move the profile back to the appropriate clan board.

Note that your character will still be considered ‘approved’ whilst you are adjusting their profile, and that you will be able to continue roleplaying them as normal throughout the process.

Oᴠᴇʀᴠɪᴇᴡ

As stated in the Character Creation rules tab, TCE treats apprentices as a ‘limited’ position – in that certain criteria must be met in order to create a cat as an apprentice, and certain others should be met in order to advance a character from kit through to warrior. These regulations exist to prevent TCE from becoming overrun with mentorless apprentices, as such cats make no sense within the site (or book) canon. This thread details the methods of obtaining an apprentice, and the criteria required to advance cats from kits right through to warrior status during the course of roleplay.

A Nᴏᴛᴇ ᴏɴ Sᴘᴇᴄɪᴀʟɪᴛɪᴇs

It is important to be aware that apprentices tend to ‘inherit’ their mentor’s specialities, and that this is particularly true when it comes to hunting, as mentors will tend to focus on the areas in which they are most skilled. Because of this, TCE assumes that apprentices will ultimately share their mentor’s hunting speciality, or one of the specialities leading up to it. It is not, however, possible for an apprentice to learn a ‘higher’ hunting speciality than the one their mentor uses. In effect, this means that:
- Ground hunter mentors can only produce other Ground hunters.
- Branch hunter mentors can produce either Ground hunters or Branch hunters.
- Tree hunter mentors can produce cats from any hunting speciality.

It is also important to note that, whilst a cat’s primary, secondary, and tertiary specialities may be a little different to their mentor’s, branch and hunting speciality will tend to impact the order in which each skill falls. In particular:
- Boars are especially likely to have fighting as their primary speciality, as this is the key skill of this branch.
- Tree hunters will almost always have Tree Hunting as their primary speciality, as learning this skill requires a significantly higher time investment than does other hunting specialities.

Finally, please be aware that apprentices do not require one of our Tree Hunting charms if they are paired with a Tree Hunter mentor. Instead, these cats can earn the position in-roleplay by fulfilling the criteria outlined in the Apprentice to Warrior Progression section (below).

Mᴇᴛʜᴏᴅs ᴏꜰ Oʙᴛᴀɪɴɪɴɢ Aᴘᴘʀᴇɴᴛɪᴄᴇs

1. Purchase the ‘mentorless apprentice’ trait from TCE’s on-site shop, or use an Unlimited Cat slot. This will allow you to create an apprentice without obtaining a mentor, with the understanding that you will find a mentor for the cat as soon as possible. Can also be paired to one of the NPC Mentor charms.

2. Use the Plotting, Adoptions, and Requests board to find a mentor for your apprentice, then send the applicable form to Greymuzzles for approval.

3. Create a kit, then progress to apprentice status in-character (see applicable criteria for progression below). Note that the provided forms should be PM’ed to Greymuzzles for approval, and that a further PM will be sent to you and the clan Leader once your request has been accepted. You will then be free to roleplay the cat’s ceremony and continue roleplay with the new rank.
Our current code is 'Ravenpaw'

Rᴜʟᴇs

A reminder: mating and kitting must not be roleplayed on the boards.

1. Staff permission is required before female Leaders, Deputies, or Medicine Cats can have kits, as this will have severe in-character repercussions. Elders and apprentices cannot have kits under any circumstances.

2. The owners of both cats must agree to the relationship and to the production of kits. In addition, both cats must be a warriors and a minimum of 12 moons before they are able to have kits.

3. Both cats must be roleplayed together for a minimum of one month before they have a litter (exceptions may be made for warrior X rogue / lone pairings). Consider this your time to get to know the other member and their character, and develop the in-character relationship.

4. Note that the WarriorXRogue/Lone trait is a limited trait, and as such you must have staff permission to create such a litter.

5. Litters should be requested using the provided form (see below), which should be PM’ed directly to Greymuzzles for approval. Both parents will be notified once this application is accepted, and the she-cat’s pregnancy can begin thereafter.

6. The pregnancy should last for a minimum of two weeks. After this time, you/other members will be permitted to begin roleplaying the kits. Note that you are free to rapid-age the litter if it suits you, but all kits from the same litter should be aged together.

7. Newborn kits must have basic profiles within two weeks of their first appearances on the boards. Kits that have not been claimed and do not have profiles by the end of this time frame should be killed-off in roleplay. Note that the owner of the queen has the final say in who will play the kits in their cat’s litter.

Tom: Father's name & link to profile

Thread/s: Link to roleplay thread/s containing both cats. This / these should show a minimum of one month of roleplay
between the characters.

itter Size: Average litter size is 2-3 kits, and maximum litter size is 4 kits. Remember, the larger the litter
is, the smaller the kits are going to be, and the harder it will be for the mother to raise them all to apprenticeship.
